A new kind of university

The Universidad Internacional de Castilla y León (UNICYL) is an educative and cultural project born from Castilla and León entrepreneurial spirit with a global target. It is founded on new parameters and teaching methods with a special emphasis on information and communication technologies (IT).

UNICYL is defined as a multimedia, bimodal university, autonomous in its organization and development, with a clear mission: transmission of knowledge, research and a sense of social service by offering to outstanding students the best education available taking into account the student´s personal and professional circumstances. Individualized tutorships and state of the art information technologies will play a most important role in our vision.

We firmly believe at UNICYL that the use of multimedia and information technologies may answer the challenge of providing education in a globalized world where information technologies make possible the communication and interconnection among different cultures.

UNICYL so, can be defined as a multimedia focused university driven by two principles: collaboration between faculty and college students in the educative process and innovative teaching and learning resources. UNICYL characterizes itself as a traditional university adapted to information society through teaching and learning innovation and information technology. UNICYL will encourage and guide its students to develop problem solving skills in order to follow appropriate actions, giving a new meaning to the ´alma mater´ concept.

The importance of Spanish Portuguese culture

UNICYL is commited to the development of skills that will allow our students to manage in a multicultural business atmosphere.

We must not forget that Spanish is the third language in the world by number of speakers (around 420 million), spoken in twenty countries as primary language and 6% of the internet users around the world speak Spanish. We must not forget either that 140 million people speak Portuguese as primary language. We believe we must promote and encourage linguistic policies concerning Spanish and Portuguese language usage with the aim of increasing the technological, scientific and cultural prestige of Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries. So, UNICYL will develop quality research, teaching and learning in both languages, Spanish and Portuguese, being totally convinced of the strategic and economic potential of Spanish and Portuguese culture. Students can also choose subjects taught in English.

UNICYL and European Space of Higher Education

UNICYL and the European Space of Higher Education are born at the same time. We firmly believe in the values inspired by the European Union.

The quality of our academic degrees will be assured by the constant adaptation of our academic curriculum in order to be able to respond to the changing employment market and technologies.
